Notes

From the trig point at the summit, a sometimes vague track continues along the open tops to Mt. Ellis where a poled route crosses beneath Red Hill from Top Wairoa Hut to Hunters Hut. In good conditions travel along the tops is relatively straightfoward even without a worn track to follow, but in poor visibility good navigational skills may be required.

"hey i know there is a dc3 reck up ben nevis some were i have a small i dear were it is if any one could help me more? i would like to find it"

"Originally had some difficulty finding the beginning of the track after following boundary road. There is currently a slip on boundary, so Old Mill really is the only option. excellent tramp - short and relatively straightforward with gorgeous views towards Mt Arthur, Mt Owen and into the Wairau."

"This is a good day walk, about 3 hours up and 2 - 2.5 down. It is quite steep in parts, and can be slippery going back down through the forested parts. A nicely varied track through a mixture of native forest, open tops and wonderful views in all directions."
